Bit about me

Hi there! I’m Travis and welcome to my portfolio!

I am an 19-year-old student studying at the Nelson Marlborough Institute of Technology. I am currently in my second year of study, completing a Bachelor of Information and Technology degree, majoring in Systems Development. Prior to this degree I gained a lot of experience and knowledge about a variety of programming languages. These languages being HTML, JavaScript, p5.js, MySQL, Java, Arduino, PhP and C#. During the summer holidays, I was given the opportunity to work for a business, redesigning forms to become responsive and user friendly. This opportunity allowed me to implement what I have learned into a real world working environment. I am uncertain of what the future will bring, although I do intend to learn more about web API's. My goal is to learn how to code in React to create effective and helpful web applications.

So far while studying, I have learned a lot of theory behind the fundamentals of coding. During the first year I learned how to use and operate a DevOps management system to effectively communicate and share my work within a team. I also learned about the Software Development Life Cycle, how important it is and how it can be benefical. By learning these skills, I am able to confidently code within a team, while also maximising efficency and effectiveness. After completing this year, I hope to become more insightful with HTML & CSS design, but also be able to implement more JavaScript features. My goal for this year is to learn more about the fundamentals and variety of algorithms that HTML and JavaScript bring. Outside of study, I enjoy going on long walks, working on my motorcycle and socialising with friends and family.
